PRE-INSTALLATION ASSESMENT
4.1 Existing Pool The Hydroxypure system can be retro fitted into any type of pool. When retro fitting, it is important that the existing sanitation method is known. If in doubt about the existing sanitation method,
the pool water must be drained and refilled prior to the installation of the Hydroxypure system. Follow these steps in preparing a pool to be retro fitted: 4.1.1 Water Chemistry Conduct an initial water test and write the in the table:
Test | Result |
---|---|
Residual sanitiser |
|
pH level | |
Total Alkalinity level | |
Calcium Hardness | |
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) | |
Phosphate level |
4.1.2 Prepare The Water The table below provides information about preparing existing sanitation methods for conversion to Hydroxypure
Test | Result |
---|---|
Chlorine |
I. Reduce sanitiser level to zero. DO NOT use Sodium Thiosulphate II. Reduce TDS levels by diluting pool water III. Adjust calcium hardness level to 180 – 400ppm If calcium hardness is over 500ppm, reduce by dilution. |
Salt |
Whilst Hydroxypure will function in a salt water pool, to experience the full benefit of a fresh water pool, you may drain and refill prior to installing Hydroxypure Should the pool not be drained and refilled; I. Reduce sanitiser level to zero. DO NOT use Sodium Thiosulphate II. Reduce TDS levels by diluting pool water III. Adjust calcium hardness level to 180 – 400ppm. If calcium hardness is over 500ppm, reduce by dilution. |
Bromine |
I. Reduce sanitiser level to zero. DO NOT use Sodium Thiosulphate II. Reduce TDS levels by diluting pool water III. Adjust calcium hardness level to 180 – 400ppm If calcium hardness is over 500ppm, reduce by dilution. |
Ioniser | DRAIN and REFILL the pool |
Ozone |
DO NOT use the exiting ozone unit or injection method Simply replace the unit with the Hydroxypure system as per the installation guide I. Reduce sanitiser level to zero. DO NOT use Sodium Thiosulphate II. Reduce TDS levels by diluting pool water III. Adjust calcium hardness level to 180 – 400ppm If calcium hardness is over 500ppm, reduce by dilution. |
IMPORTANT: When refilling a pool use municipal or tank water only. It is not recommended that Bore or Well water is used to fill or top up a pool unless it has been tested and recommended for this purpose. 4.1.3 Phosphate Treatment If
Phosphate levels are higher than 2.5ppm then: Treat the high phosphate levels as an event, prior to commissioning Hydroxypure using Perox Perfect shock dose. There should be no need to treat phosphates regularly with any other chemicals. 4.1.4 Replace
Filter Media I. Multi Media filters
- Replace filter media with Waterco Glass Pearl filter media and ensure filter is thoroughly backwashed and rinsed
II. Cartridge filters
- Replace the existing cartridge with a new cartridge element
III. Diatomaceous Earth filters
- Clean the filter elements thoroughly
- Use Aqua~Health Filter De-Greaser to remove any body fats and chemical residue
- Re-charge the filter with Aquapearl filter media for DE filters
4.2 Planning Before commencing the installation, take time to plan:
- The layout of the system, allowing sufficient space and free flowing hydraulics. Waterco recommends the use of ‘Sweep Elbows’ to ensure optimum hydraulic flow and best results of the Hydroxypure system.
- Install the Hydroxzone unit with two (2) check valves and a drain must be installed to the Hydroxzone braided supply tube to prevent backflow of water through the Hydroxzone unit (see Figure 6-3).
- The Hydroxzone unit is as close as possible to the Dynamic Venturi Injector to reduce ozone loss through lengthy tubes.
- That the chemical drums will be at least 1.5m (5ft) apart.
- Ensure unit is protected from the weather and when possible not exposed to elements.
